Dutchess County resident Michael Graham, age 37, of the city of Poughkeepsie was scooped up in Pershing Avenue Park by agents on Thursday, Sept. 14.
According to Sgt. Adam Harris of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, Graham was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance after he was nabbed with large amounts of crack cocaine and fentanyl packaged ready to sell.
The arrest came after investigating the sales of fentanyl and crack cocaine in multiple areas of the City of Poughkeepsie, Harris said.
Graham was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to jail without bail.
"Drug dealers selling this poison that puts everyone at risk will be aggressively targeted by the Drug Task Force," Harris said. "This arrest is an example of that. The Dutchess County Drug Task Force is warning residents of Dutchess County that fentanyl and drugs like crack cocaine that are mixed with fentanyl, are not just deadly to individuals struggling with drug addiction, but are dangerous to everyone that may incidentally have contact with this poison."
Harris pointed to the accidental overdose of a police officer exposed to fentanyl in the City of Poughkeepsie as the most recent example of how dangerous the drug is to everyone.
